Geography
Geography is the
study of the earth's physical features and the distribution
of life on its surface. It is primarily concerned with the spatial
aspects of where things are located and why they are where they
are.
As a result of its broad coverage
and scientific methods, geography was the "home" of the
atmospheric sciences for many centuries. In fact, during the early
and mid-1900's, geography departments at many colleges and universities
in the United States offered course work and degrees in climatology
and meteorology. Today, the atmospheric sciences have become more
specialized and many universities have established departments solely
dedicated to these disciplines.
Because a good understanding of geography--and
especially physical and human geography--necessitates a broad and
well-developed comprehension of the atmospheric sciences (such as
climatology, meteorology and hydrology), the UCCW strongly supports
geographic education and inquiry. The following websites have been
